NFL Shield

The NFL Front Office, and Commissioner Roger Goodell, landed some extra money today.

It’s been reported that Cleveland Browns rookie QB Johnny Manziel was fined $12,000 for a gesture made towards the Washington Redskins sideline last weekend.  New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham was fined $30,000 for twice dunking the ball over the goalposts following touchdowns.

In the curious case against Johnny Football, I can only imagine this won’t be the last fine that he incurs for a dumb, childish move on the field.  In case you missed it, he is what good ol’ Johnny Foosball was fined for:

What’s kind of funny in the aftermath of the Monday Night Middle Finger, I just made that up, was the Redskins Brian Orakpo admitting the sideline was taunting Manziel to see if they could get under his skin.  Apparently, it worked.

As for the Saints Jimmy Graham, it’s no secret that the NFL is once again stepping up their game in shutting down taunting.  This season, a new emphasis was placed on players dunking the football over the goal posts after a touchdown.

In an apparent challenge of the new rule, Jimmy Graham dunked the ball over the goal posts twice after touchdowns.  As you saw earlier, the NFL Commish was less than impressed with Graham’s athletic ability, fining him $30,000.

One can only guess this will not be Graham’s last fine for dunking the football.  Well, unless Head Coach Sean Payton puts a stop to it, and the 15 yard penalties it incurs.

To think, we are only now starting Week 3 of the preseason.  2 big fines reported today, and still waiting on news of the Steelers Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrett Blount following their traffic stop this past week involving marijuana.

Anyone know if  there is a fantasy football fine league?  If not, one may need to be created.  Especially the longer Roger Goodell is running the NFL.
